Problems using the iPhone or iPod Touch like a frozen application or being unable to launch the mail application can be safely solved by resetting the device.
The steps [demonstrated in screenshots on the right] are as follows:
- Go to home page and touch settings
- General Settings
- Scroll down to Reset
- Choose Reset all settings
Note that this is just like the soft reset found in Windows Mobile systems, you are not going to lose any data or files it is just the settings that will revert to factory settings.
It is also possible to reset the device using iTunes while the device is connected to your PC or Mac.
