Emedicine is the most comprehensive database ever
created for the handheld.
This is in fact a collection of ebooks about several specialities and the
pediatric content is so rich and detailed with many sub-specialties.
All diseases are presented in a practical fashion taking the user from the
definition right through clinical features and work up down to management
and medications and even follow up and prevention.
Wonderful navigation with cross linking to the extensive list
of differential diagnoses.
The problem is that it is no longer available for individual subscribers
and only for institutions through their sister website imedicine.
See blog in the related links about this issue.
The interface is provided through the user friendly Mobipocket Reader
and was at sometimes available through Skyscape.
The availability of images makes it a very rich experience to go
through the ebooks and the table lay out of medications is exceptional.
This is a unique database with 100s of reviewers and has
revolutionized the concept of dynamic references
and online textbooks.
Subscription: Registration allows access to the online content but
nothing related to the PDA content and the website is lacking email
newsletter except for CME updates and some ads.
Update Policy: The online content is updated frequently but in our
experience we found the PDA content is not updated as frequently as
    the online version.
Free trial: Available in a locked format that will not be unlocked until
    the product is purchased.
Support: Email support is available but pda4peds have seen a great
difficulty in a getting answers promptly.
Storage: Depending on the collection it may consume a considerable
memory size but fortunately the database can be installed on a
    memory card as ebook files.
Prices: Was very expensive with over hundred USD for the pediatric
section alone but no longer available for individuals.
